So you didn't quite make it as a professional footballer? Well now here's your chance to prove yourself as a manager! Your Chairman has given you £60m with which to build a title winning squad. The players are all desperate to play for you, but with a tight budget, can you find the winning formula?
Your Chairman, being a on old fashioned English football traditionalist, has requested that you play a 1-4-4-2 formation (1 Goalkeeper, 4 Defenders, 4 Midfielders and 2 Strikers) but it's up to you which area you pour the most money into. Will you be inclined to pick a strong back line and hope that you can unearth a bargain striker up front, or will you purchase high profile forwards and risk a leaky defence?
Players must be selected in the positions attributed to them in the official Vital Fantasy Football player lists. A player can only be selected in a team once - player duplication is not permitted.
The combined value of your 11 players must not exceed £60m. That might sound like a lot of cash, but if you want the big names, you'd better be prepared to spend big money, so don't expect to have a team full of stars.
You may only select a maximum of four players from one club. If a player moves to another Premier League club during the course of the season they will remain with their original club for the purposes of Fantasy Football but they will continue to score you points. On the player list players who move between clubs will be marked with an *.
Your players may be taking a holiday, but top managers rarely afford themselves such luxuries, so you'd better start making those big decisions soon. To begin scoring from the very start of the season you'll need to register by 12.00pm on Saturday 16th August 2008. Throughout the season there is a weekly entry cut-off at midday (12:00pm) each Saturday.
You can only enter one team. If players are found with duplicate teams all teams will be deleted.
Internet registration will remain open until Sunday 24th May 2009.
Transfers
Not even Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson got things right first time so don't worry if you don't either. You can make a total of 20 transfers throughout the season at any time that you want, provided that your transfers don't take you over budget. Transfers operate on a weekly basis with one cut-off / team freeze at midday (12:00pm) every Saturday.
You will NOT be able to make transfers until September 1st 2008
There will be a transfer amnesty before the start of the season. You will be able to make as many transfers as you want up to midday on the first day of the EPL season (16th August 2008).
The transfers you make during the transfer amnesty will not affect your allocation of 20 transfers for the rest of the season.
